UK's Leading Electronic Cigarette Manufacturer Welcomes Ban on Sales to under 18s in Wales
BLACKBURN, England, February 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Totally Wicked Ltd, one of the country's leading electronic cigarette manufacturers has today welcomed yesterday's decision by members of the Welsh Assembly to outlaw the sale of electronic cigarettes to those under the age of 18 throughout Wales.
Fraser Cropper, Managing Director of Totally Wicked said:
"We welcome the news that the Welsh Assembly wishes to ban the sale of electronic cigarettes to those under the age of 18. As a company we have voluntarily been enforcing such an age restriction since we were formed six years ago. This is clear from our packaging, signage in our shops, on our website, and our advertising material. Electronic cigarettes are an adult product that should be offered for sale to existing and former smokers only.
This ban will now apply in Wales and England, so we expect policy makers in Scotland and Northern Ireland to follow the lead taken by the Department of Health and the Welsh Assembly and introduce their own restrictions on sales to those under the age of 18.
As a business, we hope, now that electronic cigarettes will be seen in law as the adult product they have always been, that a more measured debate can now take place about how they should be regulated. We look forward to working with policy makers in Wales and elsewhere on the implementation of this ban and to ensure that it is properly policed and rigorously enforced."
