LONDON, July 28, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- - The IT Job Board's Latest Skills in Demand Report Indicates the Sector Continues to Thrive - Number of Positions Advertised on the UK's Largest IT Jobs Site Remains Consistent - IT Manager and IT Support Roles Represent the Largest Proportion of Jobs - Contract Work Still on the Increase; but Permanent Jobs Remain the Majority
Since the beginning of 2010, the number of roles advertised on The IT Job Board, http://www.theitjobboard.co.uk, has remained consistent. The site, which is the UK's largest IT jobs website, currently advertises more than 15,500 positions, from IT manager, to web developer roles.
As per the first half of the year, IT manager and IT support roles represent the highest proportion of jobs on the site.
Other core skills in demand include: software developers, SQL and project managers.
Contract positions continue to rise, currently accounting for approximately 30 percent of jobs advertised.
Throughout 2010, the highest proportion of people working as contractors has been in IT manager positions, accounting for 38 percent in the month of June. The largest number of permanent IT roles advertised have - again - been for IT managers and IT support staff.
Demand for IT security roles continues to witness an increase, representing growth in non-core areas, and an indication of the skills that IT pros should be seeking to master from a training perspective.
Commenting on the latest Skills in Demand report, Alex Farrell, managing director of The IT Job Board said: "As the UK's largest IT jobs site, our Skills in Demand figures provide a strong indication of the state of the market. It's positive to see that the IT recruitment sector has remained steady since the beginning of the year (particularly during the current economic climate). We now hope to begin advertising an even greater number of roles over the coming months, towards the end of 2010.
"Our aim is to be as candidate-focused as possible, and we believe we achieve this not only through the volume of jobs advertised, but also through the quality of our client base, and the roles they are looking to fill."
