UHC Names Winner of 2014 Startup Challenge
Winner Selected by Attendees from UHC's Annual Conference 2014
CHICAGO, Oct. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- UHC and AVIA announced that CaptureProof is the winner of the second UHC Startup Challenge: Innovation Delivered. The Startup Challenge was a live competition held at the UHC Annual Conference 2014, "Revolution," on October 24, in Las Vegas. CaptureProof will receive a $10,000 grand prize and advisory support from UHC and AVIA for one year.
CaptureProof was among five digital entrepreneurs in the health care field that participated in the Startup Challenge. Each company was allotted seven minutes to present their idea or product to the nearly 2,000 health care professionals attending the conference, who were able to vote for their favorite concept in real time, and to a panel consisting of three expert judge moderators. CaptureProof won the vote after presenting its app that offers a HIPAA-compliant platform to share photos, videos and communication between a patient and their health care team.
"We congratulate all of our participants who showcased a distinguished set of innovative ideas. Each presented cutting-edge technologies that made it a very difficult decision for our members," said Irene M. Thompson, UHC's president and chief executive officer. "Innovative solutions are a must in today's health care environment, and I applaud CaptureProof for presenting a compelling presentation with an inventive app. I look forward to fostering the development of this product that helps contribute toward the goals of our member academic medical centers that drive the revolution in health care."
UHC, a Chicago-based consortium of 117 leading academic medical centers and 310 of their affiliated hospitals, announced its collaboration with AVIA in September to offer the second annual Startup Challenge. UHC's conference is held annually and is attended by members from more than 100 member organizations.
"It has been great seeing all of the participants in action at "Revolution." These companies truly represent the future of health care. We celebrate all of the participants for doing an amazing job of demonstrating what innovation looks like. We look forward to continuing our partnership with CaptureProof," said Linda Finkel, AVIA's president.
