HOUSTON, Feb. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Experts in energy taxation and investment will gather March 1 to examine issues affecting the international energy industry in a joint symposium co-sponsored by the University of Houston Law Center, ExxonMobil, and several law firms.
The day-long event combines the 1st Annual Denney L. Wright International Energy Tax Conference and the Houston Business and Tax Law Journal's 19th Annual Symposium. Wright, a professor of practice at the Law Center, is a retired ExxonMobil executive. The journal is a student edited publication at the Law Center.
The symposium, "Exploring the International Energy Investment Climate," will assess tax issues in the United States, Canada, and Mexico in the morning session while the afternoon panels will discuss investment challenges and opportunities in the U.S., Latin America, and around the world. Law Center students will present their articles for discussion between the two sessions.
Law firm co-sponsors include: Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, Fryar Law Firm P.C., Haynes and Boone LLP, Latham & Watkins LLP, Mayer Brown, Thompson & Knight LLP, and Vorys.
The symposium is from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., March 1, at the Greater Houston Partnership, 701 Avenida De Las Americas. A reception will follow.
