UGL Equis' Government Services Group Secures GSA National Broker Contract
CHICAGO, July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- On June 21, 2010, UGL Equis was awarded a National Broker Contract with the General Services Administration (GSA). This contract provides UGL Equis access to perform lease acquisition and construction administration services for the GSA and its wide range of Federal Agency clients across all 50 states and territories including Guam and Puerto Rico.
On the shoulders of our experienced Account leadership team and their recent, successful completion of the Space Acquisition and Construction Administration Program for the Census 2010, this contract further extends the 13 year relationship between UGL Equis' Government Services Group and the GSA dating back to the GSA's first brokerage services contracts issued in February 1997. UGL Equis is one of four vendors to receive an award under this new contract, however, it was the only new vendor added as the other three to receive contracts were incumbents. The start date for this new contract is October 1, 2010 and has a one year base term with four one year option periods.
UGL Equis has long recognized that Governmental agencies have unique real estate requirements – budget shortfalls, statutory hurdles, public accountability and achieving seamless, cost-effective solutions to managing complex portfolios across wide geographies.
While other national commercial real estate firms have traditionally side-stepped government work, or are late entrants into the public sector arena because drastic private sector slow-downs and cost-cutting that have resulted from the recession have forced their hand, Chicago-based UGL Equis has been an established and entrenched service provider to the U.S. Government, and State and Local agencies since the Company's inception in 1984.
UGL Equis, through its Government Services Group (GSG) led by Senior Vice President Elliott Farber, has held 13 U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) contracts since 1997 in all 50 States providing regional brokerage services and real estate advisory.
In the most recent example of the Company's commitment to the GSA and public sector projects, the GSG successfully completed its work as the exclusive national provider of real estate brokerage and project management services for the 2010 U.S. Decennial Census. This represented the largest single real estate-related project ever contracted by the GSA. The requirement was for approximately 480 stand-alone leases for Census Bureau offices, one in every congressional district in the United States, which were required to complete the taking of the 2010 Census.
To meet current and future challenges, the UGL Equis GSG has added knowledgeable and experienced staffing resources to bolster the national service delivery platform. In 2008 for example, Christopher Reutershan, a former assistant commissioner of GSA's Public Buildings Service, was hired by UGL Equis to head up the Company's Federal Government and Development Services Groups.
During his years working in the Government, Chris was responsible for all of GSA's Real Property Leasing as well as creating and managing its Office of National Customer Services Management. Additionally, he served on the PBS Operating Committee, overseeing GSA's entire 350 million square feet portfolio. The position required a Top Secret national security clearance.
Mr. Reutershan and his team advise key federal government clients on all aspects of their real estate strategy. The group further assists clients with implementing and managing solutions for their transaction advisory, strategic planning, acquisitions/dispositions, portfolio planning, real property asset management, public/ private partnerships, enhanced use leasing, lease administration and development/project management requirements. UGL Equis' Federal Government Group has access to all of UGL Equis' real estate resources and personnel to ensure scalable solutions are immediately available to all of its clients regardless of how large their requirements might be.
In 2009, Peter Brohoski joined the Washington D.C. office of UGL Equis as a Vice President in the GSG. Mr. Brohoski, a seasoned professional with over 20 years of real estate experience, has consulted on a number of public sector initiatives for NASA, the Smithsonian Institute, the State of North Carolina, the City of Miami and the Fairfax County Public Schools.
Reutershan and Brohoski join Senior Vice President Brian Adelstein, located at UGL Equis Headquarters in Chicago, to offer government clients a complete range of real estate services. Mr. Adelstein has, for the past decade, been responsible for overseeing UGL Equis' relationship with the GSA and other Federal Government agency clients and most recently he organized and managed the GSA-2010 Census lease acquisition project. He is an acknowledged national expert in all facets of government contracting and all aspects of Federal Lease Acquisition. Under his guidance, hundreds of federal lease acquisitions have been successfully completed – all without a single protest.
According to Elliott Farber, these three senior-level UGL Equis team members will oversee much of the day-to-day responsibilities. "The delivery team for the GSA National Broker Contract will be under the direction of Mr. Reutershan, Mr. Brohoski and Mr. Adelstein with team members distributed across nearly all of the 28 UGL Equis offices US based offices."
"We are thrilled to have been selected by The GSA and the Public Buildings Service to serve as a national brokerage representative," said UGL Equis Government Services Group head, Elliott Farber. "This is a significant achievement for our firm and particularly for our Government Services Group, and is a testament to our long - term commitment to the public sector and our superior track record of achieving outstanding results for our clients."
UGL Equis' GSG pairs consulting with implementation to shorten project times, to capture and implement best practices and to ensure the full strategic customer relationship plan is consistently implemented at the most tactical levels for its clients.
Over the years the GSG has provided transaction, consulting services and delivered proven results to a number of other public agencies including The States of California, Wisconsin and Georgia; Pinellas County, Florida; the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
