"The Sneak Previews film series is unique among film screenings and film festivals," explained Dr. Kirwan Rockefeller, the executive producer of the program. "The films selected for the series represent a range of genres, and are presented with commentary and a discussion to give our audience a greater insight into the art and business of filmmaking."
Films to be screened in this year's series will include:
- A heartwarming drama for which the writer and director have been awarded international film festival honors including Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Director and Best Film;
- A 21st century recreation of a blockbuster thriller, with a cast whose lead members have starred in The Avengers, The Hunger Games, and the television drama Friday Night Lights; and
- A Sundance Film Festival award-winning international drama.
The specific list of films selected for the UC Irvine Extension Sneak Previews series are never announced in advance, though some notes about selected films are made available immediately in advance of individual screenings through the program's Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/UCIExtensionSneakPreviews.
