IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The University of California, Irvine Extension is offering a free webinar titled, "Social Media and Internet Audience Profiling: How to Affordably Research Your Customers Online," to provide participants with insight on how to affordably conduct research to reach online customers. Held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. PST, the webinar will be hosted by UC Irvine Extension course instructor Mike Moran. An accompanying online course titled, "Social Media and Internet Audience Profiling," is offered during winter quarter, with courses starting on Jan. 6, 2014.

"With the explosion of marketing on social media platforms, business professionals must learn the most effective and innovative strategies on how to reach specific targets," said Melanie Mitchell, director of management, marketing and business programs at UC Irvine Extension. In the accompanying course, "Social Media and Internet Audience Profiling," participants will learn how to use internet strategies and social media to create audience profiles. Through qualitative research methods and by monitoring social media demographics, Moran and co-course instructor Rob Petersen will share methods for identifying the social media applications and strategies best-suited to reaching specific audiences. The course will address the necessary techniques and best practices for identifying and engaging audiences to ensure the effectiveness of resources spent on branding, social media, public relations, and marketing efforts.
Moran, an expert in digital marketing, search technology, social media, web analytics and text analytics, is a freelance consultant and professional speaker, who also serves as Senior Strategist for Converseon, a leading digital marketing agency based in New York City. Prior to this position, he spent 30 years at IBM, rising to Distinguished Engineer, an executive-level technical position. Most recently, he served as the Manager of ibm.com Web Experience, where he led 65 information architects, web designers, webmasters, programmers and technical architects around the world. Petersen is the president of BarnRaisers, a full-service digital marketing solutions company using proven relationship principles and ROI to build brands. He has more than 20 years in the advertising industry as EVP/Chief Strategy Officer for Omnicom, and has held leadership positions at FCB, Euro RSCG, and Saatchi & Saatchi.
