UC Browser Hits 100 Million Daily Active Users and Soars to the World's No.1 Third Party Mobile Browser
BEIJING, Jan. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Alibaba UC Mobile Business Group announced today that its flagship UC Browser, which aims at providing an open and unfettered mobile browsing experience to users worldwide, has reached 100 million daily active users (DAU) in December 2014. The new milestone coincides with the browser becoming the world's most popular third party mobile browser by page view market share (11.1%) as of 2014 year-end, according to StatCounter an independent web traffic analytic service.
The past year has seen UC browsers making further headway in markets it presents. In addition to holding firm at the top spot in China according to iResearch, UC Browser entrenched its market leadership in India to a market share of 41.2% as of December 2014 according to StatCounter, up 9 percentage points from the year earlier, speaking to loyal following and advocacy in India. UC Browser's leading position in India is also testified by more than a 50% growth in DAU in the second half of 2014 according to the company's internal data. In Pakistan, the world's sixth-most-populous country, UC browser triumphed to become the No.1 mobile browser with a market share of 29.1% by the end of 2014, as observed by StatCounter, making Pakistan the third country where UC Browser leads as the top browser choice. In both Indonesia and Russia, UC Browser recently soared to the top ranking browser at local Google Play store respectively by downloads.
Exciting progress has also been captured elsewhere, reflecting the company's efforts in making the mobile web more open and accessible to users the world over.
