"We are honored to present the 2013 ACE Lifetime Achievement Award to Kathryn Kranen," said Alex Wolfe, Brand Director of EE Times. "Throughout her career, she's consistently demonstrated leadership in every challenge that's come her way. Along with her ongoing professional achievements – her career is far from over – she serves as a significant role model for emerging leaders of the future."
"We have been watching Kathryn's career over the past 20 years and it's been an exciting ride," said Patrick Mannion, Brand Director for EDN. "Along with demonstrating her technical abilities in one of the most advanced areas of electronics design, she has continued to drive innovation while inspiring her global design teams to continually do better and thrive, regardless of the competition and circumstances. We look forward to many more years of the same: Congratulations Kathryn!"
Kranen is responsible for leading Jasper's team in successfully bringing the company's pioneering technology to the mainstream design verification market. She has over 20 years EDA industry experience and a proven management track record. While serving as president and CEO of Verisity Design, Inc., US headquarters of Verisity Ltd., Kranen and the team she built created an entirely new market in design verification. (Verisity later became a public company, and was the top-performing IPO of 2001.)
Prior to Verisity, Kathryn was vice president of North American sales at Quickturn Systems. She started her career as a design engineer at Rockwell International, and later joined Daisy Systems, an early EDA company. In 2009, Kranen was named one of the EE Times' Top 10 Women in Microelectronics. In 2012, she became a member of the board of trustees of the World Affairs Council or Northern California. She is currently serving her sixth term on the EDA Consortium board of directors, and was elected its chairperson in 2012. In 2005, Kranen was recipient of the prestigious Marie R. Pistilli Women in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Achievement Award. She graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
