UBM TechInsights Announces Enhancements to PatentVista Enterprise
New Features Further Accelerate Patent Management Process to Provide Additional Strategic Value to Growing List of Early Adopters
CHICAGO, Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- UBM TechInsights today announced significant enhancements to its Web-based, patent management software PatentVista® Enterprise at the Licensing Executives Society (LES) Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Chicago. New navigation, visualization, and identification tools extend PatentVista's capabilities to provide customers with the latest information on unpublished and recently issued patents. PatentVista Enterprise now also provides full support for trilateral patents (US, Europe and Japan).
PatentVista enables companies to securely and collaboratively organize, review, search, and survey their intellectual property (IP) portfolios. It significantly reduces research time, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of customers' patent prosecution, licensing, acquisition, and divesture activities. It is estimated that a typical company with a portfolio of 2,000 patents that files 150 patents per year can save up to $500,000 annually using PatentVista. Most importantly, by using PatentVista to create a properly structured patent portfolio, companies can increase revenues from the licensing and sale of non-strategic patents rights.
New features of PatentVista Enterprise include:
- Taxonomy View
- Support for USPTO unpublished patent applications
- Automatic updating for recently issued patents
- Customer case number support
- Support for Japanese patents
Cypress Semiconductor was one of two global semiconductor companies to begin using the web version of PatentVista in June, 2010 as the basis for their IP portfolio management.
"We needed a tool that would help us locate and review patents available for monetization and other purposes," said Andrew J. Bateman, director of intellectual property at Cypress Semiconductor Corporation. "PatentVista Enterprise allows us to quickly find patents in particular technology areas in ways that we were simply unable to do before. We are planning to revise several of our internal patent processes and procedures to take advantage of the improved data-sharing capabilities that the tool offers."
PatentVista is also in the trial stage at other Fortune 500 technology companies.
"More and more companies are relying on PatentVista Enterprise to help them manage their intellectual property assets, which form the cornerstone of their innovation and competitive advantage," said Mike McLean, vice president intellectual property rights, professional services at UBM TechInsights. "In fact, since the SaaS version of PatentVista was launched in June, we have received an influx of queries from companies wanting to use a patent management software solution to enable an IP Lifecycle Management approach to achieving their business goals."
