UBM Electronics brought all of its brands -- EE Times, ESD, EBN, EDN, Design News, Test & Measurement World and Embedded.com -- together to produce the comprehensive analysis of distributor brand equity, now in its 25th consecutive year.
The mission of the study is to analyze which distributors are used and preferred by North American engineering, supply chain/procurement and corporate professionals in five product categories including Semiconductors, Connectors & Interconnects, Passive Components, Electromechanical Devices, and Power, to examine distributor brand metrics strength and reputation and to highlight the effects of job function on distribution brand preference.
"As more components suppliers increase their engagement with distribution in a bid to reach a wider segment of their audience, it has become even more necessary to gauge these companies' expertise, market acceptance and explore how customers utilize their services," said Ojo. "The Distributor Customer Evaluation Study provides a valuable snapshot of distribution performance not only on a general basis but also by product sectors. In the past few years, we have added new metrics to determine not just performance but also for reviewing the tools and additional services distributors are providing to customers."
The data was collected via web survey from UBM Electronics subscribers with engineering, procurement and/or business management responsibilities who buy, design or approve the purchase of electronic components, equipment, or services through distributors from March 17, 2011 through April 4, 2011. UBM Electronics received 1,511 useable responses, almost a two times increase in participation in four years.
