UAPD Member Ronald Lewis, M.D., Named to Medical Board
OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today Governor Jerry Brown announced the appointment of Dr. Ronald Lewis to the California Medical Board. In addition to the many distinctions listed in the Governor's official announcement, Dr. Lewis is an active member of the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD), a California-based labor union affiliated with AFSCME and the AFL-CIO. He currently serves as the President of the State Employed Physicians Association (SEPA) Board, which advises the UAPD Executive Board on matters involving State-employed doctors. Dr. Lewis, who has worked at Ironwood State Prison since 2008, is believed to be the first union doctor to serve on the California Medical Board.
