UAE's e-Government TV Program Names Jawabkom as "One of the Most Influential Online Platforms in the Arab World"
DUBAI, UAE, October 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
UAE's e-Government program endorsed Jawabkom, (http://www.Jawabkom.com), the Arab World's largest interactive question-and-answer platform, as one of the most influential sites that serve the Arabic-speaking online user.
Jawabkom's online platform connects Arabic-speakers with professionals in fields such as medicine, marriage counseling, nutrition, immigration and asylum services, legal services, and IT, to mention a few. Members ask questions and receive answers with ease and within 24 hours from experts, while privacy and confidentiality are maintained.
The website, which was chosen as an innovative, socially impactful model for online platforms in the Arab World, was highlighted during the TV program "Intelligent Government", produced by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in the UAE, and televised across 15 Emirati local and satellite channels.
Ali Al Shamsi, the spokesperson of the I'm Connected initiative said: "The UAE's "Intelligent Government" program chose Jawabkom as one of the most influential Arabic online platforms that serve civil society, by providing an innovative experience that empowers the Arab online user. With this in mind, we wanted to share the success story to demonstrate how modern digital tools can be used to serve Arab societies, especially that this Arabic platform has also achieved global success."
UAE's e-Government platform is one of the world's most renowned and successful electronic government programs. The most recent UN report on e-Government Services, published in 2012, ranked it seventh worldwide based on the e-Government services index, which is based on the quality and range of services offered, as well as user adoption rate. The report, which is published once every two years, is considered the most comprehensive and accurate report that mentors the progress of e-Government services across the globe.
Commenting on this distinction, Co-Founder and CEO of Jawabkom, Raed Malhas, said: "We are pleased to be recognized by a government program of this caliber as one of the Arab World's most influential online platforms, especially given the saturation of the online economy with hundreds of digital businesses in the region."
The Jordanian entrepreneur and former Microsoft manager, Malhas, added; "there is a shortage of Arabic online content and it is one of the major challenges the Arab online user faces. This is exactly what inspired us to build Jawabkom, as we fill the void and facilitate the Arab user's access to information in a manner that is aware and respectful of his or her culture and need for privacy, confidentiality and convenience."
Jawabkom has proved to be a needed solution to online users in the Arab World, where financial resources and social concerns often forbid accessibility to guidance on urgent or sensitive topics. The website attracted 1 million registered users within the first eight months of operation, making it the first Arabic website to ever enter the world records of the fastest growing companies in the world. On a global scale, it ranks as seventh fastest company to reach its first million users, exceeding the performance of Internet giants such as Facebook, Twitter and Airbnb, which needed 10, 24 and 30 months, respectively.
The young website has received more than 5 million questions in less than a year and a half. Of the platform's 5 million users, 2 million come from KSA, which means about 12 percent of the Kingdom's 17 million online user base has already been captured by Jawabkom. It is also noteworthy to mention that women represent the majority of the site's members.
Jawabkom was named "Startup of the Year" in 2014 by Entrepreneur Magazine's Middle East edition, which recognized it as one of the fastest growing and most socially impactful online platforms in the region. As a destination for Arabic speakers' inquiries on social, legal, medical and political issues, Jawabkom is also quickly evolving as a regional resource with data and statistics on the general behaviors, concerns, trends and interests of the online Arab user.
