U. S. Steel Tubular Products Honors Michael C. Linn with Chief Roughneck Award
PALM SPRINGS, Calif., Nov. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- U. S. Steel Tubular Products, Inc., a subsidiary of United States Steel Corporation (NYSE: X), announced that Michael C. Linn, Executive Chairman of Linn Energy, LLC, is the recipient of its Chief Roughneck Award for 2011. The announcement was made today at the 82nd annual meeting of the Independent Petroleum Association of America.
U. S. Steel Vice President – Tubular Commercial George H. Thompson, Jr. presented Mr. Linn with the traditional Chief Roughneck bronze bust and hard hat. "Michael Linn's dedication, perseverance, ingenuity, leadership and integrity demonstrate what it takes to be successful and ensure the continued growth and prosperity of the energy industry," said Thompson. Michael C. Linn founded Linn Energy in 2003. The company became the first publicly traded E&P partnership in 2006. From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Linn served as President of Allegheny Interests, Inc., a private oil and natural gas investment company. Previously, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Meridian Exploration Corporation, a private oil and natural gas company with operations in both the Appalachian and Permian Basins, until its sale in 1999. Mr. Linn graduated from Villanova University in 1974 and from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1977.
