CASTLE ROCK, Colo., March 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- U-Haul has announced its first company-owned and -operated store in the Castle Rock area should be up and running by 2018.
U-Haul acquired the vacant lot on the northeast corner of Wilcox St. and S. Perry St. on Jan. 19 and is in the process of finalizing details for a state-of-the-art moving and self-storage facility to be constructed there.
U-Haul Moving & Storage of Castle Rock will be built on the 11.36-acre property. Plans call for truck and trailer rentals, towing equipment, climate-controlled self-storage, moving supplies, professional hitch installation and a 5,000-square-foot U-Box portable moving and self-storage container warehouse.
"This property acquisition will give Douglas County a premium do-it-yourself moving option," said Christopher Lambert, U-Haul Company of East Central Colorado president. "Residents in this community were having to drive 20 miles north to Denver, or 40 miles south to Colorado Springs, to have access to U-Haul products and services. Now they will have the convenience of a company location in town."
Lambert said U-Haul will look to hire locally for the facility to promote job growth within the Castle Rock community. When the location is fully operational, he expects to employ at least 15 Team Members. U-Haul always encourages local contractors to bid on construction work.
"The Castle Rock and Douglas County areas have been some of the most consistently growing communities in Colorado," Lambert said. "We have been looking for ways to reach these under-serviced customers and we finally have a great plan to meet their needs."
