The Tongass National Forest is the rarest, most majestic type of forest found on Earth, and is home to many species of wildlife, including the goshawk. The northern goshawk is one of several hundred species making its home in this increasingly rare, remote mixture of mountain peaks, glaciers and rivers. Legendary for their fierceness, beauty and remarkable flight skills, northern goshawks rule the Tongass.
U-Haul officially unveiled the Alaska SuperGraphic in May 2007 as part of its "Venture Across America" Campaign at the Alaska Zoo in Anchorage. Today the Alaska SuperGraphic can be seen by many as it continues to travel across North America on a total of 3,000 U-Haul moving vans.
"U-Haul is always thrilled to partner with educational and interactive organizations like the Alaska Zoo to educate the public about the importance of the Tongass National Forest and the goshawk," stated John Norris, president, U-Haul Company of Alaska. "People all over have had, and will continue to have, the privilege of seeing this fierce, fiery-eyed goshawk, as this bird flies across North America on the sides of U-Haul moving vans."
U-Haul has been decorating its moving trucks with vibrant images featuring distinctive features of every U.S. state and Canadian province since 1988, with the launch of the "America's Moving Adventure" and "Canada's Moving Adventure" U-Haul SuperGraphics Campaigns. The newest SuperGraphics are part of the "Venture Across America" Campaign that highlights little-known facts about North America. Nearly 200 different images have been created since the SuperGraphics Program began. They can be viewed online at uhaul.com/supergraphics.
