BROOKLYN, N.Y., May 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Brooklyn is the No. 7 U-Haul U.S. Destination City for 2016, maintaining the spot it held on the 2015 list.
Brooklyn enjoyed a slight increase in year-over-year arrivals to remain one of the busiest locales for incoming U-Haul trucks.
U-Haul Destination Cities are ranked according to the total number of arriving one-way U-Haul truck rentals to a city in the past calendar year. Destination Cities do not account for departing traffic and thus do not necessarily reflect growth like U-Haul Growth Cities. Destination Cities reflect the volume and regularity of do-it-yourself movers coming into a community.
"Brooklyn is the hip place to be," noted Will Wolff, U-Haul Company of Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island president. "Williamsburg has seen an explosion over the last 10 years and that is bleeding into the rest of Brooklyn. It's different from Manhattan because the buildings are shorter and it's homier, but you're still in the heart of the city. Wherever you live, your neighborhood has everything you need."
U-Haul has been a corporate citizen of Brooklyn for 40 years. U-Haul Moving & Storage of Parkslope is celebrating its 40th year of service with the addition of two new floors. The renovations will increase the self-storage capacity from 2,623 to 5,423 units, making it the largest U-Haul facility in terms of total rooms.
There are three Company-owned stores and 40 independent neighborhood dealers within the borough. Find U-Haul truck and trailer sharing locations in Brooklyn at uhaul.com/locations.
"We're glad to see it's 'Brooklyn or Bust' for those looking to make a new home," said Andrew Hoan, President/CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. "And it's no surprise they're making their move the do-it-yourself way. Ranking No. 7 on the U-Haul Destination City list is more than a stroke of luck for our borough. It means we've been successful in making Brooklyn an attractive place to live, work and play."
