TXU Energy Signs Contracts with Dozens of Cities in First Half of 2016

Historically low rates, tailored solutions and competitive bidding create savings for cities across Texas

DALLAS, June 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- TXU Energy has tailored contracts for about two dozen Texas cities since January, meeting their unique needs and giving them long-term budget certainty.

"One of our goals this year has been to help more city managers and other local government leaders capture the value of getting competitive bids directly from strong retail electricity providers or through reputable brokers," said Gabe Castro, vice president of business for TXU Energy. "That has resulted in tremendous benefits for cities across Texas."

Cities that are set to become new TXU Energy customers include:

• Galveston	• Clyde	• Fort Stockton
• Midland	• Haskell	• Mathis
• League City	• Pearland	• Cisco
• Mont Belvieu	• Big Spring	• Baird
• Colorado City

The company also has signed new contracts with existing customers, including:

• McKinney	• Southlake
• Aledo	• River Oaks
• Krum	• Colorado City
• Dawson	• Lott

TXU Energy also serves other cities, including Dallas.

"City leaders are taking a hard look at their contracts and are wisely taking advantage of the opportunities presented by today's market," Castro said. "They are also seeing real benefits to challenging the status quo and taking a look at the competitiveness of their contracts."

Many of the new contracts include renewable energy from Texas wind and solar farms. Some also include rebates from TXU Energy for qualified energy efficiency projects. TXU Energy also provides expert advice to help identify the most effective efficiency projects and helps pay for them.

"Elected officials understand that they have to be careful stewards of their voters' tax dollars," Castro said. "Our goal is to help them achieve that through electricity contracts that reduce their spending and deliver great value."
