Two Wattstopper Solutions Named Architectural SSL Magazine Product Innovation Award Winners
Wattstopper architectural dimming platform and wireless plug load controls receive top honors in the Components category.
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Legrand, North America today announced that two Wattstopper products, the Lighting Control and Automation Panel (LCAP) architectural dimming platform and Wireless Receptacle Controls (WRC) series, were recognized as 2016 Product Innovation Award (PIA) winners in the Components category from Architectural SSL magazine. The awards program honors the most innovative LED and solid state luminaires and fixtures, and players behind the components that make up these light sources.
This is the fourth PIA award given to the Wattstopper product line from Architectural SSL and sister publication Architectural Products. Past product winners include Exterior Lighting Controls in 2015 and Digital Lighting Management in 2012. Now in its sixth year, the PIA awards program recognizes a wide variety of innovative buildings-related products. Wattstopper products were judged by a panel of lighting designers, lighting consultants and architects.
Winning products and judges' comments:
- The LCAP platform features a range of lighting control panels that provide modular pre-configured architectural dimming and integration options. Patent pending technology allows dimming curve for each dimming channel to be independently customized for starting and stopping points as well as linearity providing smooth dimming and consistent lighting when using mixed lighting types or brands. The platform adapts to changing and future project requirements as well as complexities like LED relay and color control.
Judge's comment: "Sensors and user interfaces coupled with automated controls amplify the energy savings performance of solid-state technology to never before realized heights."
- WRC series is the easiest, lowest cost retrofit solution in the market. The solution extends occupancy-based lighting control to plug loads and helps lighting control professionals meet new ASHRAE 90.1 and California Title 24 requirements to switch off selected receptacles. The solution minimizes costs for retrofits and new construction as it utilizes RF technology and works with existing line voltage wiring. The WRC series is also available to use with the Digital Lighting Management (DLM) platform.
Judge's comment, "This is the best product that I have judged so far this year. Since plug load is overtaking ambient lighting in wattage, this is important."
Architectural SSL magazine is the U.S. national trade publication written for architects, lighting designers and building owners, and chronicles the development, application, specification and design of LEDs and SSL in the built environment. The Wattstopper products along with other award winners are featured in the magazine's June issue.
