Two Texas Moms Win Shield HealthCare's Caregiver Story Contest
VALENCIA, Calif., Jan. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Shield HealthCare, a leading provider of medical supplies for care at home, is pleased to announce the Texas winners of its 14th annual "What Makes Caregiving Rewarding" story contest, recognizing the dedicated role of professional and family caregivers. Through this contest, Shield HealthCare provides its caregiving audience a forum to share their stories, inspiring and encouraging others.
Congratulations to Patricia G. in San Antonio and Darla V. in Houston on their winning stories selected by Kelli Kelly, founder of Hand to Hold, a Texas organization that supports preemies and special needs children.
Selected as a grand prize winner, Patricia's story is a tribute to her daughter Katie. She wrote, "I understand what matters most: that even if Katie never develops to the level of many other children, that she develop to the greatest possible level that she can. The reward is in knowing that I have been the best parent and caregiver that I can be and that Katie has the opportunity to enjoy a full life."
Runner-up, Darla V. shared her rewarding journey caring for her son, Danny. She wrote, "He is my reward for what I do.
