ROCHESTER, N.Y., Dec. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On January 29th ballots will be counted in two NLRB elections covering 152 Drivers and other employees at two separate trucking companies.
Drivers at both MBI Trucking and System Freight reached out to Local 118 seeking Teamster representation because of low wages and other sub-standard conditions. Business Agents Paul Hogle and Jeff Sargent launched the successful organizing effort which spanned multiple locations throughout various counties in Upstate New York. The National Labor Relations Board will be conducting the vote by mail, counting the returned ballots on January 29, 2018.
"There was nothing easy about organizing these groups. Our Agents did an outstanding job of winning the support of these groups despite not being able to focus on a central location. Utilizing the Local 118 Tractor Trailer in remote areas was instrumental at getting the attention of the Drivers," says Local 118 President, Paul Markwitz.
