"We are very happy about these awards, which are similar to the Oscars for annual reports. They show that we have successfully combined solid financial reporting with optical design and the emotionality of the brands and products," said Joerg Howe, company spokesman and Head of Global Communications of Daimler AG, appreciatively.
The international ARC awards were held for the twenty seventh consecutive time. The competition, which is considered to be the world's biggest and most important competition for annual reports, is organized by the independent award organization MerComm based in New York City. The entries for this year's ARC Awards included close to 2,300 annual reports from 34 countries. A jury of international experts from the areas of Investor Relations, Text/Editing, Agency, Design and Photography evaluated the annual report in a total of 21 categories.
The innovative concept of Daimler's Annual Report for the year 2012 places the letter 'A' in the foreground. This letter symbolizes a broad range of contents, which span the new compact models (A-Class), the new commercial vehicles (Actros, Arocs) as well as strategically important corporate topics (alliances), and provides an attractive graphic design element. The Daimler Annual Report is also available as an online version with interactive elements. The contents of the online Annual Report are additionally optimized for desktop use as well as for tablets and smartphones in order to accommodate the growing number of users of mobile terminals.
