Two Bucks County Employers Earn Pennsylvania Governor's Award for Safety Excellence
HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- CMS Gilbreth Packaging Systems, Inc. in Croydon and Ziamatic Corporation in Yardley are among seven companies honored with this year's Governor's Award for Safety Excellence.
"The Governor's Award for Safety Excellence recognizes employers that have made their workforce's safety a top priority," said Labor & Industry Secretary Julia Hearthway. "These employers have implemented safety strategies that reduce on-the-job injuries and increase productivity. Their commitment to safety should serve as an example to all Pennsylvania employers."
The application process for the Governor's Award for Safety Excellence is highly competitive. The award recognizes successful employer-employee safety programs that produce tangible safety improvements.
CMS Gilbreth Packaging Systems, Inc. has had no lost-time injuries in the last nine years. The company's extensive new-employee safety orientation has ensured that no employee serving on a probation period has ever been injured.
Ziamatic Corporation had no injuries in 2009 and 2010, and its employees have worked more than 205,000 hours without a lost-time injury or illness. In 2010, Ziamatic Corporation was awarded Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program status by OSHA, joining an elite group of Pennsylvania businesses, and was the first company in Bucks County to do so.
This year's other Governor's Award for Safety Excellence recipients are Dallastown Area School District, York County; R.A. Glancy & Sons, Allegheny County; Lancaster Safety Consulting, Butler County; L.J. Aviation, Westmoreland County; and Roll Forming Corporation, Mercer County.
