Twilio Taps Bobby Napiltonia as Revenues Chief
Former Salesforce.com, BEA Systems, eMeter Executive Brings Enterprise Expertise to Cloud Communications Leader
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Twilio (http://www.twilio.com), the cloud communications company, today announced the addition of Bobby Napiltonia to the position of Chief Revenue Officer. Napiltonia joins the company to help build momentum for Twilio in its core markets, expand broadly into the enterprise space and build out a global partner ecosystem.
Napiltonia brings a range of experience to the company including more than four years as a senior executive leading a global organization for Salesforce.com, driving the first meaningful revenue from the Channels and Alliances group. Under Napiltonia, the Channels and Alliances group grew from less than 5% to one-third of the company's revenue for that period of time. The growth was accomplished by expanding the partner ecosystem from thirty partners to over 4,000 globally, including relationships with Accenture, Tata Consultancy Services, Appirio and Bluewolf along with many of the cloud ISVs that built out on the Force.com platform.
Prior to his role at Salesforce.com, Bobby ran the Worldwide Channels and Alliances organization for BEA, which accounted for approximately one-third of their revenue globally. Most recently, Napiltonia was the SVP of Worldwide Field Operations (all customer facing employees) at eMeter, where he grew the business over 100% for two straight years leading to their merger with Siemens.
"We are extremely lucky to welcome Bobby to our team," said Twilio CEO Jeff Lawson. "Bobby is a total pro with experience building and motivating sales organizations, and driving substantial growth. He's our third C-level hire of 2012 and rounds out our leadership team and company, helping us continue our push to transform the way communications services are delivered by tapping the power of the cloud."
Napiltonia has a proven ability to grow companies globally beyond $1B in annual revenue both directly and through channels.
"Twilio is clearly driving a revolution in the communications space which has been validated by the dramatic growth in its customer and developer base," said Napiltonia. "Its cloud-based model and open APIs simplify the delivery of voice and messaging applications and scale to meet the needs of any enterprise. I can't wait to join the team and contribute to the company's goals and growth. This feels very much like Salesforce did when I joined. "
