Twicycle: Bike Adds Arm Propulsion to Offer Cyclists Full Body Workout
MIAMI, April 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Twicycle, a patent-pending prototype bike that allows cyclists to propel themselves forward in upright position using either arms, legs or both, has been generating interest on social media. By adding propulsion system to the front of a bicycle, Twicycle addresses the needs of cyclists who want to get the same workout for their upper body as for their legs. Its recent short video garnered over 400k views and over 5k shares within first few days of its release on Facebook.

Test trials revealed that the average person (non-professional cyclist) can successfully ride Twicycle right away. If a person can ride a bicycle, they should be able to ride Twicycle. Chest pad on the front of the bike provides full upper body support while cycling with arms, as well as shielding cyclist from the front chainring. Dual propulsion provides additional traction on rough terrain and also allows cyclist to rest one part of their body while cycling with the other.
The inventor of Twicycle is Boyan Rista, professional songwriter / producer turned entrepreneur, who came up with the idea while vacationing in the mountains. "I love cycling, but I wanted a product that would allow me to workout my upper body in addition to my lower body, all while sightseeing. After research on the Internet revealed no affordable, commercially-available product, I decided to create one myself," says Rista.
Rista went from an idea to proof of concept within days, demonstrating that it is possible to pedal with arms, while maintaining upright balance and steering control. Over the next couple of months, Rista worked long hours designing and fabricating parts, building his invention all by himself. He utilized commercially available components such as frame and wheels, while he had to custom-design front parts for steering and propulsion.
Rista entered into partnership with his brother, Goran, who brought in his skills in marketing and media production. They enlisted their youngest sibling, Sneza, to help with website design and social media outreach. The trio's range of creative skills enables them to design and fabricate Twicycle, while carrying out marketing campaigns with no help of outside investors.
Twicycle is aimed at people who enjoy cycling, the outdoors and would like to workout full bodies equally well.
Twicycle is currently in preparation for manufacturing and the Ristas are going to be launching a crowdfunding campaign this summer to pay for the initial run costs. The 1st production run of Twicycle will be offered as pre-orders to early supporters at significant discounts over retail.
