Twelve High School Teams Advance to Finals in National Cyber Competition
ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Air Force Association (AFA) congratulates the twelve teams of CyberPatriot's Open Division who have qualified for the championship round.
CyberPatriot, an education initiative produced by AFA, is a one-of-a-kind cyber defense competition that provides students hands-on learning about cyber security while virtually competing against their peers. During the latest competition on January 8, teams raced against time and their opponents to quickly find and effectively correct vulnerabilities in three different simulated networks, continuing to build knowledge on improving computer networks, strengthening security features and configuring ports and routers.

- Franklin High School, Los Angeles, California
- Great Plains Technology Center, Lawton, Oklahoma
- John R. Rogers High School, Spokane, Washington
- Lakewood Christian School, McAlester, Oklahoma

The championship round will take place March 31 to April 2 at the Gaylord National Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, just minutes from downtown Washington, D.C. This final competition will be held in conjunction with AFA's CyberFutures Conference and Technology Exposition.
