tvsdesign celebrates its leaders' community engagements and recognition
Firm committed to developing leaders and their environments.
ATLANTA, Sept. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its commitment to developing leaders who are passionate about creating better communities and improving their industry, Atlanta-based architecture and design firm tvsdesign is celebrating major career milestones for two senior members: Becky Ward and Steve Clem.
"We have a long history at tvsdesign of being committed to the leadership of our people and the growth of our community," said Roger Neuenschwander, president of the 45-year old firm. "It's part of the culture of our firm and has been since we opened our doors in 1968. We remain passionate about imagining more for our communities, our clients and our people. And we will continue to encourage our leaders to give back. I applaud Becky and Steven for fulfilling that purpose every day."
Becky Ward, tvsdesign's senior vice president of practice, was selected for Leadership Atlanta's Class of 2015. Ward is the fourth executive from tvsdesign to go through the Leadership Atlanta program, which brings together community leaders with a common desire to understand the city's issues and then take action. It's the oldest continuously running leadership program of its type in the country, and boasts graduates such as Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, among others. The class of 2015 has 77 members from a diverse range of industries and organizations.
At tvsdesign, Ward has shown leadership by growing female employment to 50 percent and creating greater work-life balance with initiatives for working mothers. In the community, she sits on the board of Central Atlanta Progress and the Metro Atlanta Chamber. She regularly volunteers with Intown Collaborative Ministries Food Pantry, United Methodist Women and the Ronald McDonald House.
Also reaching a major career milestone this year at tvsdesign is principal Steve Clem. Capping a decorated 36-year career in which he amassed 13 AIA awards and more than 100 total design awards, Clem is celebrating two achievements in 2014: election to the American Institute of Architects' (AIA) College of Fellows (FAIA) and receiving the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) Georgia chapter's 2014 Leadership Award of Excellence. Clem joins six other tvsdesign leaders in achieving the FAIA designation, including founder Tom Ventulett and current president Roger Neuenschwander.
As a principal leading one of tvsdesign's interiors studios where he specializes in workplace, performing arts venues, educational settings, convention centers and retail projects, Clem is known for iconic projects for familiar names such as Herman Miller and the Georgia Aquarium, as well as for his hand-drawn early sketches for projects. His sketches, which transcend language barriers, have proven to be a great success in his international work. One of the ways that Clem gives back is through mentoring young architects and interior designers at tvsdesign and through his service on the board of directors of the Arts Advisory Board at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Many of those in his studio have advanced to produce award-winning work of their own.
