Tuxera Releases AllConnect SDK for Android and iOS
HELSINKI and BERLIN, September 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
First-Ever Universal API for App Developers to Stream AirPlay, Google Cast, DIAL and DLNA
Tuxera Inc, the market leader in file system and streaming technologies, announced today that Tuxera's cross-platform content streaming solution AllConnect SDK is now available for evaluation. AllConnect is the first-ever technology on the market fully compatible with all devices that support Apple Airplay, Google Chromecast, DIAL or DLNA standard.
The number of connected devices including phones, tablets, TVs and set-top boxes at homes and cars is forecasted to reach 26 billion by 2020. At the same time the amount of digital data is increasing rapidly. The challenge is to easily access, manage and stream any content from a growing number of storage locations including local memory, media servers, online services and the cloud to all the connected devices.
Tuxera's solution is AllConnect Software Development Kit (SDK), a platform that allows every device to communicate with each other regardless of operating system, and protocol. The SDK is fully software based, ships on both Android and iOS, and does not depend on additional hardware. Any application built on top of the AllConnect SDK will enable the user to access data from any source, and display it or listen to it on any connected device nearby including Apple TV, Airport Express, all the smart TVs from Samsung, Sony and LG, popular set-top boxes such as Amazon Fire TV, Roku and others as well as most wireless speakers.
"AllConnect SDK works with over 5 billion devices out of the box and is optimized to bring the best performance on every platform and operating system. We make sure that each and every module is up to date and compatible with all hardware configurations," commented Claudio Camacho, Head of Wireless Technologies at Tuxera. "The idea is that the user's content is available everywhere - inside and outside of the home network - and can be streamed to any receiver no matter which devices are in use."
"AllConnect grew from the frustration that things like DLNA never worked and people didn't know how to configure and use them. As a result today most Wi-Fi streaming solutions are tied to a specific manufacturer, platform or ecosystem. AllConnect changes all that. We are really proud to release the first fully interoperable streaming solution that just works with everything and is super easy to configure. Tuxera is ready to ship and support AllConnect SDK to device manufacturers, content providers and independent app developers worldwide," commented Mikko Välimäki, Tuxera CEO.
Tuxera streaming portfolio includes Streambels app built on top of AllConnect technology and available on both Android and iOS. Tuxera has also released AllConnect Receiver, a certified DIAL app based on Tuxera proprietary technology and optimized for multiple platforms. Any application running on top of AllConnect and paired with AllConnect Receiver will allow the user to stream media to any device, be it smart TV, speakers, set-top box, game console, car dashboard and more.
