Turtle Wax Teams Up With The Chicago Wolves For Charity Jersey Auction Benefitting Local Families Of Fallen First Responders
Two iconic Chicago organizations continue mission to raise funds for the 100 Club of Chicago
CHICAGO, Jan. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- This month, Chicago Wolves fans can take part in the ultimate fundraising assist: as part of the Chicago Wolves' annual charity jersey auction, presenting sponsor Turtle Wax is giving fans the opportunity to own exclusive, game-worn Chicago Wolves First Responders jerseys, with proceeds supporting local families of first responders who lost their lives in the line of duty.
During the Chicago Wolves' home games on Jan. 20 and 21 at Allstate Arena, players will wear the specially-designed jerseys that feature a royal blue-and-red colorway, Chicago flag and First Responder shoulder patches.
"I've experienced firsthand the truly lifesaving work of our fearless public servants," said Wayne Messmer, Chicago Wolves senior executive vice president. "I know I'm not alone, which is why I'm proud that the Wolves and Turtle Wax are offering a fun way for everyone to get involved and recognize the individuals who serve the Chicagoland area."
GET IN THE GAME: OWN THE JERSEYS – AND GIVE BACK
Fans can own these game-worn jerseys through a variety of fundraising initiatives – all of which benefit the 100 Club of Chicago, an organization that provides financial assistance, access to resources and moral support for families of fallen first responders.
- Golden Ticket Raffle – Available online and at the two games, a total of 50 tickets will be sold for $50 each for the chance to win forward Scooter Vaughan's jersey. One winning ticket will be selected at random on Jan. 21.
- Blind Auction – Three jerseys will be available via blind auction, meaning bid amounts will not be visible. The fans who bid the highest amounts win the jerseys. Petteri Lindbohm's and Shea Theodore's jerseys will be available for blind auction both online and at the arena while a personalized No. 18 jersey will be available online only.
- Silent Auction – All remaining jerseys will be available through a silent auction held at the arena during the Jan. 20-21 games. The highest bidder for each jersey will win. Vaughan and Lindbohm will wear different jerseys for the two games so fans can still win their jerseys in the silent auction.
On Jan. 20, the Chicago Wolves go head-to-head with the Bakersfield Condors at 7:00 p.m. at Allstate Arena or broadcasting live on CW50. On Jan. 21, catch the Cleveland Monsters on Wolves territory at 3:00 p.m., live on CW50 and the NHL Network. For full details on the event, visit ChicagoWolves.com.
CHICAGO WOLVES AND TURTLE WAX SCORE CHARITABLE HAT TRICK
In the third consecutive year of the partnership, Turtle Wax and the Chicago Wolves have set a goal to raise $30,000 for the 100 Club of Chicago through this month's jersey auction – on top of the $50,000 donated over the past two years.
Both Turtle Wax and the Chicago Wolves have strong ties to the 100 Club of Chicago and value the sacrifices made by first responders and their loved ones.
- For the Wolves' Messmer, the connection is personal. On April 9, 1994, he was shot in the throat during a robbery attempt on Chicago's near west side when Chicago Fire Department paramedics Henry Hugel and Bill Steiner rushed to his aid.
- Turtle Wax co-chairmen Denis and wife Sondra Healy have supported the 100 Club of Chicago for more than 30 years. "Turtle Wax has deep roots in Chicagoland and we're proud to be longtime supporters of the local chapter of the 100 Club," said Denis Healy, who also serves as board vice president, 100 Club of Chicago. "We continue to team up with the Chicago Wolves because their passion for recognizing the selfless work of first responders mirrors ours – so much so they are even wearing it on their jersey sleeves this year. We encourage all fans to come out and show their appreciation. See you at the puck drop!"
CHCAGO WOLVES FIRST RESPONDERS NIGHT
In addition to the charity jersey auction, Turtle Wax is contributing 2,000 tickets to first responders and their families to enjoy the First Responders Night game, presented by Turtle Wax, at Allstate Arena on April 15. The Chicago Wolves will face off with the Manitoba Moose in their last home game of the season. First responders can call 1-800-THE-WOLVES or visit ChicagoWolves.com to learn more about receiving tickets for their family to enjoy the game.
