Turner Construction Company’s School of Construction Management Partners with Southern California Edison and Disney Parks & Resorts for 2010 Curriculum
Nationally Recognized Construction School Educates Minorities, Women, Disadvantaged and Small-business Owners
ANAHEIM, Calif., Nov. 3, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Turner Construction Company, Southern California is pleased to announce that its highly esteemed and award-winning Turner School of Construction Management wrapped up its fall session last month at a commencement ceremony and luncheon held at the Doubletree Hotel, Anaheim/Orange County. This FREE school is designed to train minority and women-owned businesses in all Construction Management practices such as: Estimating, Purchasing, Logistics, Insurance, Bonding, etc: all necessary skills for smaller companies and 'subs' to compete for and win construction work. Speakers at the graduation ceremony included Arnice Lamb of Disney Parks and Resorts, and Joe Alderete of Southern California Edison, both sponsors of this year's program.
The annual school is held at Turner Southern California's Anaheim office, and runs seven weeks. It is taught mainly by Turner Construction Company executives along with business community partners such as Peckar and Abramson, and Contractor's Plan. This session in particular was also taught by representatives from Southern California Edison, who spoke about procurement opportunities to each of the 14 classes.
