Turner Construction Company Reaches 50% Completion on New Fowler Park at USD
Turner Construction Company Demonstrates Commitment to Green Construction with Building Practices and EcoPort Trailer
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Turner Construction Company recently reached a milestone on the construction of Fowler Park at the University of San Diego. The project is now 50% complete, with the topping out scheduled for later this month, and completion expected in February 2013. The new Fowler Park will enhance an aging facility for the USD Toreros, ranked among the country's top 25 college baseball teams. As the nation's number one green construction contractor, USD selected Turner Construction Company to manage the project due to its commitment to green building.
The new Fowler Park at USD will be home to Cunningham Field, built in the 1960s. The new $11 million facility includes seating for 1,700, a state-of-the-art clubhouse for the players, two suites, a press box, restrooms, concessions, stadium lighting, new sod, and synthetic turf. Constructed with local and recycled materials, low-flow plumbing fixtures, and a sustainable design, the project is designed to achieve LEED Silver Certification.
Recently ranked by ENR as the nation's top green construction firm, Turner Construction Company set up its jobsite office at USD in the EcoPort Trailer. This trailer features nontoxic and formaldehyde-free plywood, solar and wind-generated power, and a composting toilet. The EcoPort Trailer demonstrates Turner Construction Company's dedication to building green.
