Turkcell (NYSE:TKC, ISE: TCELL), the leading technology and communication company in Turkey has announced its new Corporate Social Responsibility project, '‘Developers of the Future.'’ The project aims to guide the dynamic youth population towards becoming mobile application developers and effective players in the ever growing global application market. At the Turkcell press conference held today, attended by The Minister of Transportation, Maritime and Communication Binali Yildirim, Information Technologies and Communication Authority Chairman Tayfun Acarer and Turkcell Chief Executive Officer Sureyya Ciliv, described the initiative as a crucial step towards Turkey's targeted 160 billion dollar sector growth for its 2023 vision.
Turkcell Chief Executive Officer Sureyya Ciliv continued by stating that, "In 2012, Turkey's software development exceeded 2.4 billion TL, while exports of software and services were at around 750 million TL reaching 70 countries worldwide. Meanwhile globally, mobile software development is expected to reach 25 billion dollars by the end of 2013, and to triple within 5-6 years. Therefore, creating added value in mobile service is important for sustainable global competition. Ultimately, let's all write the future together so that Turkey can become a pioneer when it comes to developing mobile applications, and have the best qualified engineers worldwide.'’
The "Developers of the Future" will be;
- Open to everyone from all skill levels, and will also provide training, development and mentoring options.
- The software developers will be given consultation support throughout the training process by prominent professionals in the field of mobile applications.
- Those who receive "Achievement Certificates" in the program with successful projects will be given priority in employment opportunities, both in the Turkcell group and the ecosystem created by its business partners.
- Furthermore, the applications that are developed within the scope of the project will be offered to users through Turkcell's application store T-Market. In addition, monthly activities, competitions and conferences are being planned where participants can gather in different settings to exchange information.
Since its establishment, Turkcell carried its efforts further and has been committed to providing equal opportunities by introducing the newest technology throughout Turkey.
