Turkcell Chooses Telenity for Telco 2.0 Deployment
Leading European Mobile Operator Selects Telenity's Service Delivery Platform Components for Access to Web 2.0 Services
MONROE, Conn., Feb. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Telenity (www.telenity.com), a leading provider of service delivery, location based services, social media, mobile marketing and messaging platforms and solutions, today announced that Turkcell, Turkey's leading communications and technology company with 34.4 million subscribers, selected its Canvas® CSP, Converged Services Platform components to be deployed in Turkcell's Telco 2.0 Service Provider Gateway (SPGW).
Telenity provided Turkcell with Telco 2.0 enabled versions of Service Provider Gateway and Service Control and Management Environment (SCME) components, that open up the operator's mobile network to a large number of business and technology partners turning it into an effective Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) platform that supports a wide range of applications and services across many vertical market segments with multi-sided business models. The upgraded SPGW and SCME enhance Turkcell's Service Delivery Platform Architecture (SDPA) to support enabler catalog management, capability exposure, and consumption of in-house and third party enablers in ways that are aligned with emerging Web 2.0 technologies.
"We wanted to turn the SDPA into a marketplace of network assets and enablers that serves the needs of an increased number of upstream/downstream players and multi-sided business models. Telenity was a key vendor in the successful deployment of our Telco 2.0 Service Provider Gateway with their knowledge and flexibility of their technologies," said Cenk Bayrakdar, Chief New Technology Business Officer at Turkcell.
"We are working for serving the best services and best customer experience to our corporate customers. Thanks to Telco 2.0 infrastructure, our corporate customers are able to enrich their own services with Turkcell capabilities. This is the best and the most effective solution for our customers since they can create innovative services including mobile and its capabilities together, deliver the right service to the right customers via right channels, and save time," said Selen Kocabas, Chief Corporate Business Officer at Turkcell.
"As downward pressure on mobile voice and data revenues increase, operators need to strengthen their position in the value chain and extend their reach into previously untapped markets," said Gurol Akman, CTO at Telenity. "They need to be able to package and offer their network assets and service capabilities to ecosystem players to generate additional streams of revenue. They need to be able to do business easier and more effectively with their business and technology partners. Last but not the least, they need to be able to serve to the needs of emerging markets. A good way to achieve all these is by evolving their SDPA from traditional service delivery to a business-to-business enabling transactional platform. We have done exactly this with our Telco 2.0 deployment at Turkcell."
With this upgrade to Telco 2.0, Turkcell will be able to offer its subscribers a variety of service packages that are a mix and match of its own services along with services from third parties. It will also be able to open its network up for wholesale (in addition to retail) sales model while keeping control of key service metrics such as charging, billing, quota, tariff, and bandwidth.
