FRAMINGHAM, Mass., March 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Rave Mobile Safety, the trusted software partner for campus and public safety, announced today that Tulane University has joined a growing list of colleges and universities nationwide that have launched the award-winning, patented Rave Guardian solution. Rave Guardian transforms any mobile phone from any provider in the U.S. into a personal safety device, greatly improving the ability of campus safety officials to respond to incidents and protect students, faculty and staff.

Rave Guardian will let registered users at Tulane create a complete caller profile that can include medical conditions, course schedule, addresses, photo and other critical data. Once registered, users can call Rave Guardian from their mobile phone at any time to activate a "follow me" feature when traveling on the Uptown, Downtown and the Tulane Primate Center's Northshore campus. The system will also work within the one-mile Tulane Police Department's perimeter jurisdiction uptown.
Rave Guardian lets the user set a time at which he or she should arrive safely at their destination. Upon arrival, the user can simply deactivate the timer. If the user does not deactivate the timer upon arrival at their destination, Rave Guardian will alert Tulane police.
"Safety is our foremost priority and the enhanced features of Rave Guardian bring an even greater level of protection to all members of the Tulane community," said Jon Barnwell, superintendent of the Tulane University Police Department. "This technology will also provide our university community with greater peace-of-mind."
Rave Guardian is a fully hosted system that is easy for colleges and universities of any size to deploy at any location in the U.S. There is no hardware or software to install on computers or cell phones, and the system easily integrates into existing procedures and student information systems. Rave Mobile Safety is the market leader in campus safety technology, offering additional products that includes Rave Alert, the most reliable broadcast emergency notification solution on the market, and Rave EyeWitness, which allows students to confidentially text campus police about threats or safety issues.
"We are always excited to partner with and enhance the safety programs of such quality institutions," said Tom Axbey, chief executive officer for Rave Mobile Safety. "Tulane enjoys a tremendous reputation for innovation and we look forward to providing their community with equally progressive and proven tools that ensure optimum campus safety."
