Tuffnell Ltd. Announces Initiation of Phase 3 Drilling at Its Little Butte Gold Project in Arizona
LONDON, July 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Tuffnell Ltd. (Tuffnell or "the Company") (OTC Bulletin Board: TUFF) is pleased to announce that it has initiated Phase III drilling at the Little Butte Project in western Arizona. Drilling of three fences of east-west angle holes across a north-south trending geophysical target will test the continuity of gold/copper mineralization and the relationship of it to the anomaly. The drilling program will consist of approximately 5,000 feet of Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling and include one deeper vertical hole to test an interpreted intrusive associated with the anomaly. Results are expected within 4-6 weeks.
In 2010 Tuffnell conducted a gradient IP-resistivity survey over a 3,600 by 3,600 feet area using. 30 meter dipole spacing along east-west lines spaced 100 meters apart. The survey was completed by Zonge Engineering of Tucson, Arizona and interpreted by Frank Fritz, a highly respected geophysicist. The resistivity survey has been superimposed on the drill hole/trench locations and included in a plan map available on the Tuffnell website www.tuffex.com.
Mr. Fritz's interpretation shows several north-south structures offset by east-northeasterly trending later faults. By far the most impressive feature runs north-south through the middle of the map and correlates well with the structure and mineralization found in Tuffnell's trenching and drilling. This resistivity high runs at least 3,000 feet to the north and averages 300-500 feet in width. Fritz interprets this feature as an altered structure. Mr. Fritz believes there is a major intrusive dike under the central portion of the resistivity high. This dike could be the source of the mineralization.
The three east west fences of drill holes to test this IP anomaly are shown on the map referenced above (shown as P1-14). Each fence consists of five angle holes drilled from east to west, approximately 100 feet apart and averaging 300 feet in depth. A deeper vertical hole (600-800 feet deep will be drilled in the vicinity of P7. This hole will test the possible intrusive dike at depth.
Tuffnell has also begun a district-wide study of Little Butte project area to determine what other drilling targets occur on the property. The company has obtained sample pulps from historic drilling of nearly 50 holes scattered throughout the project and has conducted 34 element analysis of these pulps. Previously only analyzed for gold, copper content as well as other element analysis will be used to determine elemental zonation and to target shallow targets similar to those currently being tested. Plotting of higher temperature elements may help target a postulated large intrusive body at depth, a deep drilling target Tuffnell plans on testing in a later program.
