TSA Names Gerry Phelan Federal Security Director for Savannah
SAVANNAH, Ga., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has named Gerry Phelan as Federal Security Director for Savannah/Hilton Head International and eight other airports in Georgia and South Carolina.

Phelan joined TSA in 2002 and helped with the start of federal security operations at Tampa (Fla.) International Airport. In 2008, he served a one-year detail as Federal Security Director at Southwest Florida International Airport, Fort Myers.
"Gerry's experience in military law enforcement, the aviation industry and at TSA will be a significant asset as he leads TSA's operations in Savannah and across much of Georgia," said Lee Kair, TSA's Assistant Administrator for Security Operations.
Prior to joining TSA, Phelan served 20 years in the U.S. Army. At the conclusion of his military law enforcement career he was responsible for 1,600 military police and support personnel for international security missions. After retiring from the military, he became the Vice President of Administration for Evergreen International Aviation, a privately held global aviation services company based in Oregon.
Phelan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Management from Warner Southern College in Lake Wales, Fla.
He also will serve as Federal Security Director for commercial airports in Albany, Athens, Augusta, Brunswick, Columbus, Macon and Valdosta in Georgia and Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.
