NOVATO, Calif., Feb. 25, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Trym, the only cannabis-specific farm management platform, today announced that startup veteran and cannabis-industry technology innovator Sean McCullough has joined the leadership team as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Prior to Trym, McCullough served as Vice President of Engineering at Denver-based Baker Technologies, which recently completed a successful merger and initial public offering (IPO) on the Canadian Stock Exchange (CSE).
During his time at Baker, McCullough helped grow the product and engineering team from a handful of staff to more than 30. His team was responsible for the engineering, security, scalability and stability of the Baker CRM platform, the industry leader in cannabis retail software solutions, serving more than two-thirds of U.S. dispensaries.
"The decision to join Trym is not solely out of industry interest, but even more so because I see the immediate need this industry has for the solution this team has built," McCullough said. "This is an extremely competent team that has executed its product in the market perfectly. I am very excited to be a part of what Trym is creating and look forward to helping further position the company as the industry leader in the space."
Early in his career, McCullough founded several companies in social networking and product marketing, which experienced successful acquisitions less than two years after inception. Prior to joining Baker, he worked as a Senior Engineer at Eaze, the leading cannabis delivery platform.
"Sean's had an incredible career building technology companies and has played key roles in the success of some of today's leading and most influential cannabis software brands," said Matt Mayberry, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Trym. "We're thrilled to have such a seasoned engineer on our leadership team. The role of CTO will be critical for our next phase, as we grow our customer base, scale our organization and continue to expand our product offering. With Sean's experience building market-leading software in the cannabis space, he is the right engineering leader to execute our vision and build our development team."
The newly expanded leadership team will focus on building strategic partnerships and integrations with hardware and software systems as well as deepening data analytics capabilities within the Trym Explore web application. With this strategic focus, and the addition of McCullough, Trym is advancing its mission of becoming the optimization engine for cannabis cultivation.
