Trustee from the Bernie Madoff Scandal to Discuss Lessons Learned at The Economic Club of Las Vegas at February 21st Event

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Economic Club of Las Vegas has announced it will host Irving Picard, Trustee for Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC on Wednesday, February 21 at The Smith Center (Cabaret Jazz Theater). He will discuss lessons learned in his talk titled, The Madoff Fraud: The International Investigation and Recovery Efforts.

Picard currently serves as court-appointed trustee under the Securities Investor Protection Act (SIPA) for the liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Securities LLC (BLMIS), an unprecedented global recovery effort stemming from one of the largest financial frauds in U.S. history. As SIPA Trustee, Picard's mandate is to recover the principal stolen by Madoff to return to BLMIS customers with allowed claims. As of December 2017, he has recovered or entered into agreements to recover more than $12.8 billion, all of which will be returned to BLMIS customers with allowed claims.
