TruStar Energy PFS To Fuel 2014 Basin Disposal Fleet

PASCO, Wash., Dec. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- TruStar Energy is excited to announce the pending delivery of its Portable Fuel System [PFS] to Basin Disposal, Inc., at their Pasco, Washington headquarters. The PFS, scheduled for March 2014 delivery, will be used to fuel their new arrival of four automated garbage trucks.

The TruStar PFS is a self-contained compressor-redundant system that arrives on a small skid, but packs a productive punch – providing for 66 diesel-gallon equivalent of fuel per hour – making it perfect for Basin Disposal's operation. The two-compressor setup also provides for additional peace of mind as fueling can still take place with one compressor in the event the other is down for maintenance.

"The refuse market segment was one of the early adopters of CNG and Basin Disposal's choice of the PFS will provide them with low-cost fuel at their location without the additional expense of a traditional 'brick and mortar' permanent station."

Third-generation Basin Disposal President Darrick Dietrich said that the move to Compressed Natural Gas [CNG], was primarily driven by economics and operational stability.

"Economics was the primary driver behind looking at CNG," said Dietrich. "CNG presents a cost savings, as well fuel-price stability. These are major factors that will benefit our rate payers."

Utilizing new technology to enhance operational efficiencies is also something that has become more of the norm for Basin Disposal, founded by Dietrich's grandfather in 1941. Dietrich said Basin Disposal was the first hauler in the area to migrate to automated route collection back in 1983, (using single-driver side loading garbage trucks with automated grabbers), which gave them a competitive advantage. He said he sees the move to CNG in a similar light.

"This is an investment that will pay dividends to Basin and our customer base over the long term, both in terms of rate stability and its positive impact to the environment," said Dietrich.

Basin Disposal plans on being operational by April 2014 and plans on having eight CNG garbage trucks at their site by the end of 2014.
