PASCO, Wash., July 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- TruStar Energy, one of the leading designers and builders of CNG fueling infrastructure is excited to announce the grand opening of a new time-fill compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station for Basin Disposal, located in Pasco, Washington.
The new station, a TruStar Energy PFS Elite 150 portable fuel system, was installed to fuel Basin Disposal's current CNG fleet of four garbage trucks, but Basin Disposal's President Darrick Dietrich says that's just the beginning.
"We currently have four CNG-powered trucks in our fleet and two pickup trucks that have been converted to run on CNG, but plan to add an additional five next year," said Dietrich, adding, "we're speeding up our normal replacement schedule to increase our return on investment."
The PFS Elite 150 is TruStar Energy's newest edition to their portable product line – and represents a perfect blending of technology and practicality for smaller fleet owners or those that have fleets distributed between several locations that each need natural gas fueling.
"We updated our original PFS design to make it more modular as well as easier to service," said TruStar Energy Sales Vice President, Scott Edelbach. "We had a lot of customers tell us they loved the idea of a portable system, but wanted the flexibility to easily add more compressors to keep pace with their expanding fleets. Our engineering department took those comments and established a common frame that would allow for up to three compressors [PFS Elite 225], while maintaining the portability of the system."
Dietrich said that converting his fleet is the first phase of a multistep plan that converts Basin Disposal's fleet while also offering public fueling for other fleets that have migrated away from diesel.
"The fact that the PFS is moveable is important to us as there are plans to eventually build a larger public fast-fill station at this location. The PFS can easily be transferred to our Walla Walla location as we convert our 10-truck fleet there," said Dietrich.
"Migrating from diesel to CNG is a game changer for enhancing the profitability of transportation operations," said TruStar Energy President, Adam Comora. "Fuel savings from 30% to 50% create significant value for fleet operators and their partners. Not only is CNG better for the environment and bottom line profitability, the domestic nature of natural gas truly insulates us from artificial price fluctuations brought on by issues in the Middle East, making it a win-win-win solution."
TruStar Energy began building private "behind the fence" fueling stations in 2008, but has expanded their product offerings to include public / private station builds along with fuel supply contracts and TruStar Energy-owned stations for those customers that are not interested in station ownership, but want access to low-cost CNG fuel.
"The company's successful growth is being driven by being the preferred partner for companies desiring to convert their fleets from diesel to CNG. Given the significant cost savings, "speed is of the essence" in order to capture these cost savings as quickly as possible."
TruStar Energy LLC is the preferred partner for commercial fleets looking to transition their fuel supply from oil to natural gas. TruStar Energy provides a suite of solutions making the transition as simple and easy as possible for the customer.
