TruStar Energy Awarded Contract to Build CNG Fueling Station for City of Tacoma

TACOMA, Wash., Sept. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- TruStar Energy, a national leader in development of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling infrastructure, is proud to announce the contract award for the design and construction of a time-fill CNG fuel station for the City of Tacoma, Washington.

The city has plans to eventually migrate up to 80 vehicles to domestic CNG as part of a larger strategy to reduce emissions and cut fuel costs.

"Cutting fuel costs and reducing our greenhouse gas emissions are two main goals for migrating to CNG," said Lewis Griffith, City of Tacoma assistant division manager. "At present, we have one front load truck on order, and plan to order long haul trucks, roll-off chassis and rear loading trucks in the next year.

TruStar Energy will deliver a portable fueling station that generates 100 diesel gallon equivalent [DGE] per hour to fuel the City's trucks. In addition, dedicated 24 twin-hose time-fill posts and associated equipment will be installed at the site to allow for fueling.

"The PFS Elite Series fueling station fills a niche for companies looking to migrate to CNG fuel quickly and that have a smaller amount of trucks, limited space, or smaller fuel consumption that would not warrant a traditional brick and mortar station," said TruStar Energy Vice President of Sales, Scott Edelbach.

The PFS allows fleet owners to rapidly migrate to on-site fueling because the entire station is mounted to a mobile platform that can be lifted into place at a customer's location with minimal preparation. Because of its portability, the station can easily be moved to a secondary location – once the fleet grows beyond the fueling capacity of the PFS.

Griffith said they expect to take delivery of the first vehicles near the end of the year and are anticipating the TruStar PFS Elite 225 will be dispensing fuel sometime in first quarter of 2015.
