NEWARK, N.J., Sept. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Truphone today announced that its global technology engineering center here has joined the New Jersey Technology Council, which provides business support, networking opportunities, information, advocacy and recognition to members in advancing New Jersey's status as a leading technology center in the United States.
With its U.S. headquarters in Durham, N.C., Truphone is the first mobile operator in the world without country borders. Truphone achieves this through patented technology, which includes its unique GSM network and a unique, single SIM card that is capable of holding multiple international mobile numbers.
Truphone established its technology engineering base at the New Jersey Institute of Technology's Enterprise Development Center in 2012 to support expansion of company operations in the U.S. The center employs a dozen high tech and engineering professionals. Membership to the New Jersey Technology Council will give Truphone access to New Jersey's diverse talent pool and resources, which will allow the company to continue to innovate and grow.
Chris Celiberti, Truphone's Vice President of Business Engineering, said gaining membership in NJTC was a logical move for Truphone in view of its history of innovation in mobile, the strategic thrust of its business and the council's goals and membership.
"When you consider what the council has been doing in the Garden State since 1996, and its member companies, joining NJTC is a natural fit for Truphone," said Celiberti, who has advanced degrees and an extensive career history in computer science, developing leading-edge Internet applications and innovation in mobile voice and data networking.
Truphone's network operations center is in Cleveland and the company has sales offices in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta and Raleigh-Durham.
Last year, Truphone won one the first-ever New Jersey Business Incubation Network (NJBIN) awards that were given to 20 high-performing companies based at 15 incubation centers throughout the Garden State.
About Truphone
Truphone is the first mobile operator in the world without country borders. It brings people closer to their international contacts, makes them more productive, and gives them the international quality of service they deserve.
One of the ways that Truphone achieves this is by providing people within a group of eight countries, called the Truphone Zone, multiple international mobile numbers on a patented Truphone SIM card. This means that people's international contacts can always reach them, and make high quality local calls at a local rate. The Truphone Zone includes the US, UK, Australia, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland and Spain.
The Truphone Zone is at the heart of a group of 66 countries called Truphone World. Here, people can talk, text and download, just as they do at home, with bundles of voice, text and high speed data that work across the entire footprint. The Truphone World countries account for 70 per cent of all international travel routes, including all of Europe and key business destinations in North America, South America, Asia and Oceania.
Globally, Truphone serves people in more than 200 countries, with regional bundles that provide predictable costs and higher quality network performance.
Truphone's unique GSM network enables it to provide 24/7 multi-language support and proactive monitoring of network performance to deliver a seamless and consistent international mobile experience.
Headquartered in London, Truphone has 13 offices across four continents and continues to expand globally. Clients include Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 companies across multiple sectors.
