SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Trulia®, a home and neighborhood site for homebuyers and renters, today announced Issi Romem as its new chief economist. In this role, Romem will spearhead Trulia's economic research and use Trulia's extensive neighborhood-level data to provide timely industry insights on both national and local housing market trends, demographic shifts and economic policies that matter most to buyers and renters. Under his leadership, Trulia's Housing Economics Research team will continue to publish a regular cadence of research, data analysis and commentary about the U.S. housing market.

Romem is currently a fellow at the Terner Center for Housing Innovation at the University of California, Berkeley, where he also taught as an adjunct professor of economics. Before Trulia, he served as the chief economist at BuildZoom for more than four years, leading research around metropolitan growth patterns, housing and construction trends, with his work most-notably featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News, among others. Concurrent to his last role, Romem advised the Rentonomics team at Apartment List on economic methodology. He also previously worked at OnPoint Analytics as an economist. Lastly, Romem earned his Master of Arts in Economics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, graduating Magna Cum Laude, as well as a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
