True Citrus Launches "1 Million Meals to Help Feed the Need" Campaign
Partners with Feeding America® to help support the effort to end hunger in the United States
BALTIMORE, June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Al Soricelli, CEO of True Citrus Co., announced today that it has joined forces with Feeding America, the nation's leading hunger-relief organization, to help feed those struggling with hunger across the country.
As a Feeding America supporting partner, True Citrus will donate the equivalent of more than one million meals* over the next year. Feeding America is a nationwide network of over 200 food banks that help provide food, grocery product and resources to more than 37 million people nationwide.

Starting this summer, consumers will see the True Citrus "1 Million Meals to Feed the Need" logo on True Citrus products in grocery stores across the country. True Citrus products displaying the "1 Million Meals to Feed the Need" logo include True Lemon, True Lime, True Lemon Lemonade, True Lime Black Cherry Limeade, True Lemon Peach Lemonade, and True Orange Mango Orange.
Food insecurity affects one in six Americans. Additional facts about hunger in America include:
- One in five American children, or almost 16,000,000, live in households that are food insecure.
- The lack of adequate nutrition affects children's physical, behavioral and cognitive development.
- Hunger is not relegated to the unemployed. 36% of client households served by the Feeding America network have one or more adults working.
- Even educated people struggle with issues of hunger. In fact, in the 2010 Hunger Study, 23% of respondents had graduated from or attended a college or technical school.
The True Citrus "1 Million Meals to Help Feed the Need" program provides a way for consumers to get involved and learn about this pressing issue. After purchasing a True Citrus product, consumers are now able to go to the True Citrus website (www.truecitrus.com/feedingamerica) and enter the UPC code found on all True Citrus products. One code equals the equivalent of donating one meal. Additionally, they are able to read more information about Feeding America, facts about food insecurity in the United States and ways to become involved in the effort to solve hunger. In addition to True Citrus' website, information about the "1 Million Meals to Help Feed the Need" will be shared through True Citrus' Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest social media channels.
