Tropic Air joins Sabre to expand commerce strategy with agencies
Central American airline begins global distribution of all its fares, seats inventory and schedules in Sabre's travel marketplace. Agents can now shop and book new flights and pricing options to Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico
MEXICO CITY, Oct. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sabre Corporation has signed a long-term technology and commerce agreement with Tropic Air, a regional airline that operates over 200 daily flights to 16 destinations in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico. Tropic Air will also adopt Sabre's connectivity standards and e-ticketing capabilities to deliver real-time pricing, seat availability, data and ticket changes for flights booked by Sabre-connected travel buyers.
With this announcement the regional carrier joins the Sabre global travel marketplace for the first time, and will use its software and e-commerce capabilities to market and sell their airfares relying on unprecedented reach to world travellers. Sabre's distribution technology will also contribute to improve Tropic Air's commercial operations through instant booking confirmation and access to last-seat available inventory to business partners across channels, including agents, online agencies and corporate buyers.

Sabre's electronic ticketing feature enables instant exchange and synched data with the airline for agents in major outbound markets including U.S., Eastern Caribbean, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, and France. Early next year, Tropic Air plans to extend this enhanced capability to agents in other strategic outbound markets, including Mexico.
Sabre's travel marketplace plays an important role in facilitating the marketing and sale of airfares, ancillary services, hotel rooms, rental cars, rail tickets and other types of travel, to more than 400,000 travel agents and thousands of corporations who use it to shop, book and manage travel. Based in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye in Belize, Tropic Air's biggest hub is at Belize City International Airport.
