Trinity Health CEO Swedish Resigns; Board Names Warren Interim CEO
LIVONIA, Mich., Feb. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Trinity Health announced today that President and Chief Executive Officer Joseph R. Swedish will leave the organization next month to become the CEO of WellPoint in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the Trinity Health Board of Directors named Board member Larry Warren to be interim CEO.

Swedish is working with the Trinity Health Board and the executive team to ensure a smooth transition. Warren, a Trinity Health Board member since July 2011, is the former CEO of Howard University Hospital and former CEO of University of Michigan Hospital.

Swedish has been CEO since December 2004. Under his leadership, Trinity Health revenues increased from $5.7 billion in 2005 to $8.9 billion in 2012, and total assets increased from $7.5 billion to $11.7 billion. The organization's community benefit ministry, which includes care for the poor and community heath activity, increased from $265 million in 2005 to $615 million in 2012.
