Trina Solar Named as One of 50 Chinese Global Challengers by BCG
TIANJIN, China, Sept. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Trina Solar Limited (NYSE: TSL) ("Trina Solar" or the "Company"), a leading integrated manufacturer of solar photovoltaic products from the production of ingots, wafers and cells to the assembly of PV modules, was named one of the Chinese global challengers today by The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a reflection of the Company's rapid growth and global expansion. BCG unveiled the list of Chinese global challengers, which are fast rising China-based companies with global aspirations, today at the World Economic Forum's summer meeting and released a report, 2012 BCG 50 Chinese Global Challengers: End of Easy Growth, describing their successes and analyzing the challenges they face.
BCG developed a series of quantitative and qualitative tests in order to create a list of companies that is broadly representative of China's globalization landscape and the Chinese economy. The Chinese global challengers range in size from $180 million to around $300 billion in annual sales. Nearly one-half of the companies are private, while 26 of them are state-owned. Thirteen of them generate more than one-half of their revenue from overseas.
"We selected a group of companies in order to celebrate their accomplishments and to bring to life the accomplishments of China-based companies generally in entering the global economy," said Ted Chan, a BCG partner and co-author of the report. "There are so many success stories in China."
"We are delighted to have been named by BCG as one of the 50 Chinese Global Challengers, which recognizes Trina Solar's increasing global presence," said Mr. Jifan Gao, Chairman and CEO of Trina Solar, "But to continue building upon our historical successes, we must take the necessary steps to further increase our ability to compete on a global scale."
