Trimega Tests Hair Samples From Applicants to the Rio de Janeiro Military Police Civil Service
Trimega Laboratories to test 300 hair samples from the Rio de Janeiro Military Police Civil Service
RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Trimega Laboratories, one of the world's leading companies for testing hair for substance abuse, has received a batch of 300 hair samples from the Rio de Janeiro Military Police Civil Service, for testing for evidence of drug use. The hair samples form part of the force's entrance examinations and Trimega will test them at its laboratory in Manchester.
This initiative follows on from Trimega's announcement in September that it was conducting tests on hair samples from the Brazilian Military Police. As before, the Rio tests are being conducted in tandem with Trimega's Brazilian partner Laboratorio Sodre.
Avi Lasarow, CEO of Trimega, said: "The decision of the Rio Military Police to utilise Trimega's testing procedures acts as a strong endorsement of our brand and shows that police forces across Brazil are seeing Trimega as a trusted partner with whom they can achieve their drug testing goals."
Hair drug testing is a revolutionary method of testing for drugs using hair strands. It not only determines the presence of an illegal substance, but can also provide an accurate historical record of substance misuse. This helps in differentiating between a one-off user and a chronic substance abuser. Hair drug testing provides a picture of usage of the previous 12 months, depending on the type and length of hair of the donor. More traditional forms of testing, such as analysis of urine and blood, can provide a record of consumption of only the previous three days and four to six weeks, respectively.
