Trimega Laboratories Sponsors Public Child Care Law Conference
Trimega Laboratories announces sponsorship of Butterworths Public Child Care Law conference on Tuesday, 26 June 2012 in London.
LONDON, June 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Trimega Laboratories, a leading provider of substance misuse testing services, is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Butterworths Public child care law conference on Tuesday, 26 June 2012 in London. The conference forms part of an ongoing series of events intended to brief legal professionals on current developments in the rapidly evolving realm of public child care law.
Bringing together legal and medical experts, the event will again be chaired by Alex Verdan QC, a leading expert in complex cases relating to children, often including cases of fatalities and disputed medial evidence. Mr. Verdan was called to the bar in 1987 and awarded silk in 2006. He was appointed a deputy judge to the High Court in 2009.
The conference will include a keynote address on the Family Justice Review by Mr. Justice Ryder, Judge in Charge of the Modernisation of Family Justice. The Family Justice Review overseen by Mr. Justice Ryder is the most comprehensive review of the family justice system since the Children Act of 1989 and will have a far-reaching effect. Beyond introducing the program of revision from a judicial perspective, seminars will be devoted to charting the review's effect in real terms: how it will influence care and adoption proceedings and how it stands to alter the role of the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (CAFCASS).
The conference will also survey new, key cases in child care law and the influence that scientific advances and expert testimony are having upon current case law. Drawing together authorities on medico-legal best practise, the conference will address the instruction of experts, when they are best deployed and how to avoid pitfalls of expert testimony, and how to define and prove instances of nonaccidental injury.
Douglas MacSween, General Manager of Trimega Laboratories, said: "We are proud to support this conference and to help the legal profession accurately chart and discuss the latest developments in what is a rapidly evolving area of the law. We always aim to be part of the program to increase understanding of the interface of law and science."
