Trimble Sells its Advanced Public Safety Business to Aptean
SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today that it has sold its Advanced Public Safety (APS) business to Aptean, a leading provider of mission critical enterprise software solutions headquartered in Alpharetta, Ga. APS provides automated mobile solutions to public safety agencies to address the administrative challenges of issuing traffic citations and crash/accident reports. APS's solutions also enable law enforcement and court staff to quickly access, analyze, store and share the data as well as reduce the reliance on paper-based systems. Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
"This transaction is an element of our continuing program to tighten our corporate focus," said Michael Lesyna, Trimble's vice president of Strategy and Corporate Development. "Trimble will remain actively engaged in the public safety market through its forensic reconstruction solutions."
APS has been reported as part of Trimble's Mobile Solutions segment. The divestiture will not have a material impact on either overall or segment financial results.
